House Rules & Rulings

I. General Rules

Contents

What is this?

The House Rules & Rulings webpages describe the custom house rules that will be used at the gaming table. Additonally, these pages restate a subset of existing official rules that the Game Master has either misinterpreted in the past, wishes to emphasize for this campaign, or both.

Rules Precedence

When resolving conflicting rules, use this precedence order:

  1. Ad hoc Game Master rulings
  2. Setting or adventure specific rules
  3. The Rules & Rulings webpage (this document)
  4. 3rd party supplements
  5. Official D&D 5th Edition sources

Ad hoc rulings are made on the spot to keep the game moving. After a game session where an ad hoc Game Master ruling was made, if the ruling contradicts the other sources listed above, discuss the discrepancy with the Game Master so it can be handled properly in the future.

Authorized Sources

Rules and Character Options may be selected from the following sources. Care should be taken to reasonably align your character's concept with the the classic Greyhawk setting. If a Character Option is determined to skew the party balance too much it may be disallowed.
